Background Summary: This project is intended to refresh the landscape in eight medians on Maguire Road, from Jordan Rose Avenue north to the Turnpike. Landscape enhancements are needed due to the poor plant health brought on by inferior soils and harsh growing environment. The City's Urban Designer/Landscape Architect prepared design documents directing the replacement of topsoil, use of soil amendments, a detailed planting plan and specified the existing irrigation be upgraded to a "Hydrozone" system. BrightView Landscape Services is currently under contract to provide landscape maintenance and upon request, may provide a proposal to improve the City's landscape areas. Based on the City's directions and plans, BrightView Landscape Services submitted a fee proposal in the amount of $205,600.97 to install the median landscape enhancements. This request meets the City's purchasing guidelines. This project is included in the 2020 budget. Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and the City Commission award the Maguire Road Landscape Project to BrightView Landscape Services for $205,600.97. Recommendations: Staff recommends the Honorable Mayor and City Commission award the Maguire Road Landscape Project to BrightView Landscape Services for $205,600.97 as described in the attached proposal. Staff also requests the City Manager be authorized to approve change orders to this contract up to the limit of his purchasing authority for each change order. Attachments: BrightView Landscape Services' proposal. Financial Impact: The available budget for this project is $220,000, of which $200,000 was identified in Public Works 2020 Budget, GL 001-541-10-3400 and $20,000 is available for Maguire Road Landscaping from mitigation payments made by Park Place at Maguire (fund 317). I have highlighted that Section as well as provided it below. As far as we are aware the funds have not been expended. Can you please verify that? We have$200,000 approved in the Public Works Streets Budget for landscaping. Maguire Road landscaping was the priority project to receive funding. Peter and I have the design completed and are finalizing the estimate from Brightview. However, if the 20K is there we can save funds in the Street's budget to go somewhere else or increase the design budget. Thank you for looking into this for me. Here is the excerpt. Section 9. Maguire Road Landscaping.
