Smith 6 Contact Number: 407-905-3100 ext. 4000 City Manager: Robert Frank Subject: Purchase of Grundomat Directional Driller and Sullair 185 CFM Portable Air Compressor Background Summary: The Grundomat directional driller and the Sullair 185 CFM air compressor which were not provided for in this fiscal years budget, are items that will be used together for directional drilling work by the Utility Department. This type of work is currently being contracted out to other vendors at a cost to the City of Ocoee for the use of the equipment, labor, and parts. Wherein, the City of Ocoee's Utility Department will be performing more of this kind of work as we retrofit and rehabilitate outdated or malfunctioning infrastructure, the purchase of this equipment will be a cost that will be recaptured within a few months of active usage and split between the water and wastewater CIP accounts. Issue: Should the City Commission approve the purchase of the Grundomat directional driller and the Sullair 185 CFM air compressor for a proactive approach to in-house infrastructure repairs and retrofitting; and for an expected cost savings to the City of Ocoee. Recommendations Motion to authorize the City Manager to purchase Corporation at cost of $6,571.00; and the Sullair 185 cost of $10,260.00 for a total amount of $16,831.00. the Grundomat directional driller from Ring Power CFM air compressor from TT Technologies, Inc., at Attachments: Air compressor cut sheets and quotes; boring tool quotes. Financial Impact: The Utilities Department is requesting that the remaining funds from the purchase of the Caterpillar Trackhoe be applied to the purchase of the Grundomat directional driller and the Sullair 185 CFM air compressor. The Trackhoe purchase was provided with a budgeted amount of $87,000.00 and was to be split between the water and wastewater accounts. The actual cost of the Trackhoe was $63,583.00, providing an availability of $23,417.00 for the purchase of the Grundomat directional driller and the Sullair 185 CFM air compressor. The Grundomat directional driller is $6,571.00 and the Sullair compressor is $10,260.00, for a total amount of $16,831 for the purchase of both components; and the total cost will be split between water and wastewater CIP accounts.
