HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-20-1991 Minutes L MINUTES OF PENSION BOARD MEETING: November 20, 1991 The meeting was called to order in the conference room, City Hall at 10 : 05 a.m. Those present were : John Bateman, Paul Lewis , Milton West , Jim Shira, Judy Henry, Randy Conyers , Jerry Thompson, all board members . Also in attendance were Peggy Psaledakis , Lee Dehner Ward Foster and Ken Enlow. Jim Shira was choosen by unanimous decision to be chairperson for the general employees board , with Judy Henry being choosen as secretary. Chairperson for the Police/Firefighters board is Jerry Thompson, with Randy Conyers serving as secretary . Ken Enlow, insurance representative from Brown and Brown Insurance discussed insurance with the board and asked each member to submit a short resume which will accompany applications for fiduciary insurance . Jim Shira made a motion, seconded by Judy Henry that Lee Dehner be appointed as board attorney. Motion carried. Jim Shira made a motion that Ward Foster be appointed as actuary, seconded by Milton West. Motion carried. Wayne Thompson made a motion, seconded by Randy Conyers , that Lee Dehner be appointed as board attorney and Ward Foster be appointed as actuary. Motion carried. It was discussed that future meetings should be held at the Community Center to allow more room in the event employees might want to attend. Mr. Bateman asked that each agenda include time for employee questions and input and that this item be placed at the beginning of the meeting . It was agreed that this would be done . Wayne Thompson asked when a copy of the plan would be available for each employee . Mr. Foster advised he would probably be able to provide the employees with an outline of the plan sometime in January. A joint meeting for the boards and employees will be held January 22 , 1992 from 9 : 00 a. m. - 11 : 00 a. m. for police and firefighters and for general employees from 1 : 00 - 3 : 00 p. m. This meeting will be held at the community center. A motion was made by Judy Henry and seconded by Milton West that L. all questions to the board should be submitted in writing and placed on the meeting agenda. Judy Henry suggested that a recording secretary be hired to take minutes of each meeting . Peggy advised she would check in to the costs associated with someone to take minutes and report back to the board at the next meeting . Vernon Brown came before the board with questions . He wanted to know if the 5% was taken on a straight 40 hour week or if it was taken on overtime pay. Mr. Dehner advised the 5% was taken on the total pay, including overtime . lie said it was a benefit to the employee since the retirement benefit would be enhanced.
