Dear Melanie Sibbitt:
I would like to express my interest in the Citizen Advisory Council for the Ocoee Police
Department(CACOPD).It is more important now than ever to strengthen the relationship
between the local public community and our brave law enforcement officers. As a Florida
native, the child of a law enforcement officer, and longtime leader in the private sector, I
believe my life experiences and professional skills align well to the CACOPD's objectives.
I have held multiple leadership roles in the last 15 years of my career. I have been
responsible for complex budgets, managed large teams of direct reports, and have served
on numerous corporate committees ranging from strategy to cyber security. During my
career, I have fostered a collaborative environment of open exchange of ideas,
constructive debate, and key decision making.
Prior to my professional career, I was a graduate from the University of Central Florida. I
received a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies degree. Most of my professors were legal
professionals such as private attorneys,a former US Attorney, and even a sitting judge as
an adjunct professor. We covered many areas of the law which provided me a great
foundation of our legal system.
My father was a law enforcement office for most of my childhood. I learned that the job
was incredibly challenging and risky but at the same time very rewarding. He taught me
the importance of strong community relationships for law enforcement officers. In
addition, I currently have several family members that are active law enforcement offices
within our great state.
I was born in South Florida but have lived in Central Florida since 2004. I recently moved
to Ocoee a little more than one year ago with my wife.We really like to community and I
would be honored to become a member of the CACOPD. Please consider this application.
Sincerely,
Jason R Griner
