Proclamation
Whereas: T he earth shook on September 11, 2001 from an assault on The United States of America;
and
Whereas: T he democratic freedoms we all share were attacked by terrorists from afar; and
Whereas: N early 3,000 perished in the attack, with more than 400 of those being first responders who
sacrificed their lives in an attempt to save others, all innocent victims of an evil beyond our
comprehension; and
Whereas: T his loss of life and the savagery of the attack on icons of our freedoms have left few Americans
untouched; and
Whereas: W e want to reach out to those families that have been sacrificed for a meaningless representation
of a radical political view; and
Whereas: O ur standard has been “One Nation under God,” and we should stand up for our right and
freedom with God’s guidance; and
Whereas: T hese terrorists must be shown what freedom means to Americans, including the right to worship
our God without fear of intimidation; and
Whereas: I n memory of those we lost on this tragic day, we pray to never see a day like this again,
and know the American spirit can never be broken and the unbreakable spirit lives on
today in the courage of the first responders who safeguard our city each day, and the
patriotism that lives on in the citizens of our great community.
Now Therefore: The City Commission of the City of Ocoee, Florida, proclaims that September 11,
2020, be known as a day of prayer, remembrance, and rededication to patriotism and love for our
country that will be recognized forever.
