HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-13-2020 Minutes City of Ocoee Minutes of the Citizens Advisory Council for the Ocoee Fire Department Regular Meeting Held February 13, 2020 I: CALL TO ORDER CACOFD meeting was called to order by Chair Vaughn at 6:01 pm in Station 25 Training Room, located at 563 S. Bluford Avenue. A. Pledge of Allegiance: was performed by Member Richardson. B.Roll Call and Determination of Quorum: Recording Clerk Paliki performed roll call,and declared a quorum. Members in Attendance: Chair Vaughn,Channell,Richardson,Gillis,Hodge,Orme Also Present: Deputy Chief Smothers,Recording Clerk Paliki Members Absent: Lawrie,Christian,Lovejoy, West C. Review of Agenda: by Chair Vaughn D.Approval of Minutes for November 14,2020: Motion made by Member Richardson,seconded by Member Orme,and unanimously passed to approve the minutes. II: BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION A. Old Business: Chair Vaughn discussed the 2020 budget;at the present time the full budget is available. The success of Operation Santa was discussed. Deputy Chief Smothers expressed that the double-wide modular unit for Station 38 at Vignetti Park was put into service on January 6,2020 without any difficulty. A formal announcement has not yet been made regarding a ceremony for Lieutenant Ellis's retirement,promotions,and the pinning of the 6 newest firefighters. B. Under Construction—City Growth: Deputy Chief Smothers briefly spoke about Waffle House,Tijuana Flats,and Sonny's Barbeque,which will all be opening in the near future. The groundbreaking for the new City Hall is expected this Spring at the corner of McKey Street and Bluford Avenue. There has been a lot of clearing for new residential townhomes and apartments. C. Upcoming Events: Chair Vaughn discussed that Spring Fling will be held on March 28,2020 from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m.Deputy Chief Smothers explained that a car will be brought in to do an extrication demonstration for the public. Chair Vaughn asked for volunteers for the event;Member Channell made a motion to participate in the event,with Member Gills seconding that motion. Member Channel said he would volunteer from 12 p.m.to 3 p.m. and Chair Vaughn and Member Gills both volunteered to help as well. CACOFD Minutes February 13, 2020 Deputy Chief Smothers announced that the Fire Station Open House may possibly be held on April 4th,or April 18t,and that the department will advise as soon as possible. D. Transport Update: Deputy Chief Smothers stated that transport is going very well,and better than anticipated. There have been minimal issues with software and computer tablets,which were to be expected. The number of paramedics in the department is increasing. Last year more than 3,000 patients were transported. E. Deputy Chief's Comments: F.
