Background Summary:
Capital funds were budgeted and approved to purchase equipment for the transition from BLS to ALS in this
current fiscal year. Dixie Medical was identified as a vendor that could provide reconditioned L1FEPAK 12 units
at a cost of neaMy half the price of a new unit. One unit has already been purchased through Dixie Medical and
the decision to purchase a second unit was approved.
Issue:
Purchase of the second unit from the same vendor exceeds the City Manager's level of approval authority and
requires City Commission approval.
Recommendations
Staff recommends the City Commission approve the purchase of the second L1FEPAK 12 from Dixie Medical
with existing capital funds.

Financial Impact:

RE:
Purchase a Second LIFEP AK 12
ISSUE
The purchase of a second unit from the same vendor exceeds the City Manager's approval authority level and
must be approved by the City Commission.
BACKGROUNDIDISCUSSION
The Ocoee Fire Department has the opportunity to purchase reconditioned LIFEP AK 12 defibrillator that will
expand our capabilities to place more units in the field. One unit has been purchased already, with another
expected to arrive early in 2008 from a grant by Orange County EMS. The third unit will allow the Fire
Department to have all three engines upgraded to ALS when staffing allows.
Staff recommends the City Commission approve the purchase of the second LIFEP AK 12 from Dixie Medical
Inc.
