Background Summary: Public Works included the following four (4) traffic signal system maintenance projects in the Capital program in the current budget: 1. Replace damaged mast arm upright on NW corner of Clarke Rd. and SR 50: $25,845.96. 2. Replace span and signal wires at Bluford Ave. and SR 438: $45,780.00. 3. Replace span and signal wires at Clarke Rd. and AD Mims Rd.: $50,905.00. 4. Replace video detection system at Clarke Rd. and White Rd.: $21,970.00. Item 1. is to replace a mast arm upright which was damaged by a vehicle and is subject to reimbursement from FDOT along with Item 2. the re-spanning of the intersection at Bluford Ave. and SR 538 (Silver Star Rd.) as the City maintains the intersections on behalf of the State. Items 3 and 4 are normal lifespan maintenance for the signals on City rights of way. Public Works solicited pricing from the City's Traffic Signal Maintenance Contractor, Control Specialists, for the projects as they will be responsible for maintenance. The attached quotes are in line with FDOT construction industry pricing. Public Works recommends issuing a purchase order to our Traffic Signal Maintenance Contractor, Control Specialists, as they will be responsible for the maintenance of the Capital projects which are adequately funded in the budget. Issue: Request the City Commission approve issuing a purchase order to Control Specialists Corp. for the traffic signal system maintenance projects incorporated in the current budgeted Capital program. Recommendations: Recommend the City Commission approve issuing a purchase order to the City's Traffic Signal Maintenance Contractor, Control Specialists, to; 1) replace a damaged mast arm upright on the northwest corner of Clarke Rd. and SR 50 for $25,845.96, 2) replace the span and signal wires at Bluford Ave. and SR 438 for $45,780.00, 3) replace the span and signal wires at Clarke Rd. and AD Mims Rd. for $50,905.00, 4) replace the video detection system at Clarke Rd. and White Rd. for $21,970.00, and authorize the City Manager and staff to approve and execute change orders to the work in accordance with the limits established in the Purchasing Code.
