Meeting Date: 4/19/2022 Item # Reviewed By: Contact Name: Joy Porter Wright, Community Department Director: Relations Manager 6 Contact Number: 407-905-3100 City Manager: / Subject: Ocoee Neighborhood Matching Grant Applicants - Recommendation to Award a Total of $10,900 to Six Neighborhood Associations Background Summary: The Ocoee City Commission approved the implementation of the new Ocoee Neighborhood Matching Grant Program at their meeting on October 15, 2019. The grant program was formerly known as the Most Valuable Partnership Awards (MVP). Staff revamped the MVP to simplify and improve the application process and criteria. The Neighborhood Matching Grant Program is held annually. This year's grant cycle opened on February 17, 2022. Applications were due on March 18, 2022. The neighborhood grant program is for homeowner associations (HOA) and neighborhoods that do not have a structured HOA. The goal of the grant program is to assist residents with making improvements to their neighborhoods. The maximum matching grant award is $2,000. Applicants pay for their improvement projects, and then get a portion back, up to a maximum of $2,000. Given the nature of the grant program, which is to improve city neighborhoods, the Development Services Department conducted the primary review of applications. Six (6) Homeowner Associations submitted grant applications for this grant cycle. There is $12,000 available for the grants. Five applicants requested the $2,000 (the maximum amount). One HOA, Silver Glen, requested $900. Therefore, the total amount of grant money requested is $10,900. Lake Olympia Club and Silver Glenn submitted grant applications last year (FY 2020/21) and both were approved to receive grants. However, both HOA's withdrew their applications due to issues they had with their contractors. They are eligible to reapply again this year (FY 2021/22) because they withdrew their applications and did not receive any grant monies. 1.
