Subject: Approval of Reappointments and One (1) New Appointment to the Citizen Advisory
Council for Ocoee Police Department (CACOPD). (City Clerk Sibbitt)
Background Summary: Members of the Citizen Advisory Council for Ocoee Police Department
(CACOPD) serve three-year terms. The Resolution creating the Board allows no more than nine (9) members.
Currently, the board has seven (7) members.
When possible, equal representation for all districts shall be maintained on all advisory boards, and the City
Commission shall consider the demographic makeup of the board upon making their appointment. The graph
below illustrates the current district makeup of the CACOPD.

One (1) application has been received by Jason Mellen (District 4) who has shown an interest in being
appointed to the CACOPD for a term ending January 2026.
The terms of Members Cory Garone (District 3) and Warren Lewis (District 1) expire in January of 2023. Both
Members Garone and Lewis are willing to serve another three-year term if reappointed. In 2022 Members
Garone and Lewis both attended three out of four meetings.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners appoint Mr. Mellen, and reappoint Members Garone and
Lewis to the CACOPD Board to serve a three-year term ending January 2026?
Recommendations:
Staff respectfully recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners consider appointing Mr.
Mellen and reappointing Members Garone and Lewis for a three-year term ending January 2026.
