HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-08-2024 Minutes• CALL TO ORDER The CACOFD meeting was called to order by Chair Legvold at 6:00 PM, in the Station 25 Conference Room, located at 563 S. Bluford Avenue, Ocoee. The Pledge of Allegiance was performed by Chair Legvold, followed by a Moment of Silence. Roll Call and Determination of Quorum: Recording Clerk Ferrer performed roll call and declared a quorum present. Members in Attendance: Chair Legvold, Vice -Chair Kepler, Members Ochoa, Fletcher, Channell, Washington, and Richardson. Members Absent: Member Vaughn Also Present: Commissioner Firstner, Deputy Chief Van Camp, and Recording Clerk Ferrer Guests: None BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION A. Old Business: Approval of Minutes for November I 1, 2023, Motion to Approve November 11, 2023 Minutes; Moved by Member Chappell, seconded b Member Richardson. Motion carried unanimously. The Board received their tablecloth, the CACOFD Pop-up tent was recovered and will be stored in recording clerk's office. Chairperson Legvold lead the discussion on the mandatory Sunshine Law Training on March 14, 2024. The breakfast for the fire department's retirees, will again be held at The Breakfast Club at the same time as last year. A brief discussion ensued. B. New Business. Board members reviewed the nominee for firefighter of the year. Member Fleteher made a motion for the one nominee as the Firefighter of the Year, seconded by Member Ochoa. Motion carried unanimously. Deputy Chief Van Camp addressed the Board and provided information about Station 25's Open House, with several members opting to volunteer for the event. This led the members to volunteer to have a pop-up tent for the upcoming Ocoee music festival with Commissioner Firstner conveying hand off products for the Ocoee residents. Deputy Chief Van Camp informed members FEBRUARY 8, 2024 of Ocoee Fire Department new Tower truck, Captains, Inspector, and two (2) sponsors that have a three-year commitment. Detector Blitz program will begin next year and the Fire Explorer Program has tentative plans to begin soon. Deputy Chief Van Camp explained how this program works and the idea behind having this program available in the city. C. Under Construction: City Growth: Commissioner Firstner delivered an update on the growth and upcoming development in Ocoee. The upcoming build will be a new Kanes furniture, Regency, Wawa, hotels with parking garage, and a sports complex. Still pending information if there's going to be a red light at Hackney Prairie intersection. Clark Rd expansion project is ready to begin very shortly, Chair Legvold received input from Council members and set the agenda for the next meeting, which will be held on May 09, 2024.
