Subject: Approval of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety High Visibility Enforcement and
Support Program. (Police Chief Ogburn)
Background Summary:
The Institute of Police Technology is awarding the City of Ocoee Police Department $10,000.00 in grant
funding to support Florida's Bicycle Pedestrian Focused Initiative of Communication and High Visibility
Enforcement. These funds aim to use law enforcement to reinforce safe pedestrian, bicyclist, and driver
behaviors in priority counties in Florida. The goal of this effort is to reduce traffic crashes resulting in severe
and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists using high visibility education and enforcement details.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners authorize the Mayor to sign the Letter of Agreement
and Contract to accept the additional $10,000.00 made available to the Ocoee Police Department through
Florida's Bicycle Pedestrian Focused Initiative of Communication and High Visibility Enforcement Grant?
Recommendations:
It is recommended that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners authorize the Mayor to sign the Letter of
Agreement and Contract to accept the additional $10,000.00 made available for the Ocoee Police Department
through Florida's Bicycle Pedestrian Focused Initiative of Communication and High Visibility Enforcement
Grant.

Financial Impacts:
