Regular Meeting Held May 23rd, 2024
CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chair Mellon called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM, in the Commission Chambers of Ocoee City
Hall, located at I North Bluford Avenue, Ocoee, FL 34761.
Vice Chair Mellon led the Pledge of Allegiance and Member Moyer led the Invocation. Recording Clerk
Maldonado called roll and declared a quorum present.

Vice -Chair Mellon, Members Moyer, Meeks, Garay, and Lonmeck. Member Garone and Lewis arrived
after the call to order.
Also present: Deputy Chief Nylander, Lieutenant lannuzzi, Sergeant Beek, and Recording Clerk
Maldonado

Members Braunskill and Member Brown
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE MARCH 28,2024, MEETING:
Member Garap made a motion to approve the March 28, 2024, minutes; seconded by Member Loinneck.
The motion carried unanimously.
Sergeant Beck provided an update on the $3,000.00 for the fiscal annual budget, and suggested the board
discuss how to use the remaining balance of $900.00.
Lieutenant lannuzzi, who was the guest speaker for the organization COPS and also a representative for
our local Central Florida chapter, Concerns of Police Survivors, explained and showed what the
organization COPS does for the families of the fallen officers. The board determined to discuss further
the possibility of donating $500.00 dollars or sponsoring a family to participate at the GALA. Lt lannuzzi'
will be returning to the next meeting to let the board know the best way to support the COPS organization.
Member Lonineck Made a motion to set aside $500. 00 dollars; seconded by Member Meeks. The motion
carried unanimously.
Sergeant Beck provided the city of Ocoee crime stats the Board requested. Deputy Chief Nylander
explained the stats report and all other agency information. He also discussed the latest department
updates, the newest K9 unit member, and the new indoor training/range facility which is in the final
planning phase and approvals. The facility should be breaking ground soon, is scheduled to be completed
by October 2025, and will be a full-time operational facility. The Ocoee Police Department will receive

payment from other agencies to utilize it. Deputy Chief Nylander stated that Chief Oghurn's goal is to
develop the younger officers and refine them to be the next generation of leaders.
The board wrote a congratulatory letter for Chief Ogburn.
Member Loinneck made a motion purchase the. new K9 police badge for $83.65 dollars; seconded b
Member Garone. The motion carried unanimously.

Vice Chairperson Mellon opened the discussion and the Board reviewed the nominations.
Member Lonineek made a inotion to nominate entry by Sergeant Beck for Civilian of the First Quarter
2024, seconded by Member Meeks. The motion carried unaniinqyLIE.
Member Lomneek made a motion to nominate entry by Lieutenant Iannuzzi Lor Qficer oL the Second
Quarter 2024, seconded by Member Meeks. The motion carried unanimously.
The board held a discussion about the starting time of the CACOPD meetings being different from other
boards. They determined the starting time of the meetings should be at 6:15 pm. Sergeant Beck reviewed
the CACOPD bylaws in order to determine the feasibility of the vote and approval of the request.
Member Lomneck made a motion to chap ge the CACOPD meeting starting time &om 7.-00 pm to 6:15
pm for all future meetings; seconded by Member Mover. The motion carried unanimoyAIL.
Sergeant Beck and Deputy Chief Nylander provided the details of the upcoming events for the
Community Affairs Division: The Picnic event in May, National Night Out, Police Teen Academy,
Casting with a Cop.
