Good Evening Mr. Mayor Rusty Johnson & Commissioners City of Ocoee, Thank you forgiving me the opportunity to present my case. **Rats!** A feared, dangerous, and repulsive pest. Who would want to have them invading their home? I'm sure no one. My name is Johanna Renwick, and today I am here to share a situation that not only affected my life but also the lives of my family and my community. Before making improvements to myyard, we faced a terrifying problem: **a severe rat infestation** that was taking refuge on my property due to a sewage pump located right behind my yard, which belongs to Thornebrooke Elementary School. With the grass in my yard, the rats would dig holes, hide, and thrive, creating a constant danger for my family. For me, this was not just a pest problem; it was a direct threat to my mother, who, after losing an eye due to medical malpractice, lives with a disability that makes her vulnerable. Despite her limitations, my mother helps me every day with caring for my daughter, including tasks like picking her up from school. Imagine her fear when walking through a yard full of hidden rats, unable to detect them in time. Imagine her concern about the risk of being bitten, or worse, that my daughter might be the victim. This was our reality. Desperate to resolve this grave situation, I had to take out a considerable loan to remove the grass and replace it with pavers. This was not a decision I wanted to make, but I had no other option. My priority was to protect my family and eliminate the health risks posed by the rats to all of us. Since then, the rats no longer have anywhere to hide, and their presence has been almost completely eliminated. Now, my mother can walk confidently and safety on a visible and stable surface, no longer with the constant fear of finding a hidden rat. In addition to solving the rat problem, I want to emphasize that **myyard has no drainage issues**. The land is property sloped, allowing water to flow toward the back of my property, away from neighboring houses. Over the past four years since installing the pavers, we have faced storms and hurricanes without any water accumulation or issues for the nearby homes. These pavers were not only a solution for my family but also an improvement for the community, reducing rat proliferation and the associated health risks. I ask that you consider all these points when evaluating my case. This was not a decision taken lightly; it was a desperate measure to protect my family and my neighbors. I am here to answer any questions you may have. Thankyou for listening to my story and for considering this important decision. C I W Owner's Property Name: -fo't 1 "4 0?
