Subject: Approval for the City to Take Control of Ocoee Little League Operations. (Parks and
Leisure Services Director Johnson)
Background Summary:
Ocoee Little League has been a staple in the community for over 50 years. However, in recent years, the
league has faced increasing competition from private, travel-baseball teams, leading to a decline in
participation. As a result, recruiting volunteers to administer/operate the league has become a challenge. In
response, the Ocoee Little League Board approached the City, requesting that city staff take over league
operations, as the board had planned to dissolve. Without City involvement, the league is at risk of complete
collapse. Taking over the program should be seamless, as the Little League Board will transfer $12,666.19 to
the City, and annual revenues (listed under financial impacts) should easily exceed the costs of continuing this
program within our community. Staff reached out to other municipalities that have successfully taken over
struggling little leagues, and all have reported positive outcomes.

Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners approve the Ocoee Little league as a City administered
program?

Staff recommends the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners approve the Ocoee Little league as a City
administered program.
