Two (2) of the vehicles were totaled and one (1) vehicle is scheduled for surplus October I. The insurance company has paid damages in the total of $23,990.89. Along with the money received from our insurance claim, an additional $30,509.11 is needed to purchase replacement police patrol vehicles. Three (3) used, fully equipped patrol vehicles are available for purchase at the Longwood Police Department. The Longwood Police Department currently has three (3) marked patrol vehicles available which meet our existing need for the replacement of damaged vehicles. The vehicles, which are late model and low mileage, have been inspected by the City of Ocoee fleet maintenance manager Bill Simmons. Mr. Simmons verified the vehicles are in good condition and meet our current fleet standards. Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve the proposed money transfer from the police department salaries to vehicle replacement for the replacement purchase of three (3) equipped patrol vehicles from the City of Longwood? Recommendations: It is recommended that the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve the proposed money transfer of $30.509.11 from the police department salaries, 001-521-00-1200, to vehicle replacement, 001-521-00-6401, for the replacement purchase of three (3) equipped patrol vehicles from the City of Longwood for replacement of damaged Ocoee vehicles. Attachments: Financial Impact: The $30,509.11 is available in the police personnel account as unused payroll; $23,990.89 was received from our insurance company for the damage claim. ISSUE: Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve the proposed money transfer of $30,509.11 from the police department salaries account 001-521-00-1200 to the vehicle replacement account 001-521-00-6401 for the purchase of three (3) replacement vehicles from the City of Longwood? BACKGROUNDIDISCUSSION: The Police Department has had three (3) marked patrol vehicles seriously damaged in vehicle crashes. Two (2) of the vehicles were totaled by the insurance company and one (1) of the vehicles, also heavily damaged, was scheduled for surplus in October due to age and mileage. The Longwood Police Department currently has three (3) marked patrol vehicles available which meet our existing need for the replacement of damaged vehicles. The vehicles, which are late models and low mileage, have been inspected by the City of Ocoee fleet maintenance manager Bill Simmons. Mr. Simmons verified the vehicles are in good condition and meet our current fleet standards. The police vehicles are equipped with police patrol lighting and prisoner cage and turn key ready. The Longwood Police Department will replace the existing graphic package with Ocoee Police graphics before delivery. 1
