Geneva St. and 669 S. Cumberland Ave. (Assistant Public Works Director Gajadhar) Background Summary: In 2014, the City acquired two parcels of land located at 35 W. Geneva St. and 669 S. Cumberland Ave. Each parcel consists of one (1) vacant residential structure, for a total of two (2) structures. Due to the vacant former residential structures being in uninhabitable condition, Public Works recommends approval to demolish the structures to eliminate City liability. The Public Works Department would like to piggyback off of the Volusia County’s Term Contract for Demolition Services, Contract ID 24-SQ-144LL (MA 32557), utilizing Advanced Demolition as the contractor at a proposed cost of $28,868 for demolishing both structures. Public Works recommends approval of this award. Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners approve demolition of the structures located at 35 W. Geneva St. and 669 S. Cumberland Ave, and approve to piggyback Volusia County’s Term Contract for Demolition Services? Recommendations: Staff recommends the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners approve demolition of the structures located at 35 W. Geneva St. and 669 S. Cumberland Ave, and authorize a purchase order be issued for the contracted demolition with Advanced Demolition utilizing the existing competitively bid Volusia County Term Contract 24-SQ-144LL (MA 32557) in the amount of $28,868, and authorize the City Manager and Staff to approve change orders to this contract up to the limit of his purchasing authority for each change order, and up to the budgeted amount for this project for all change orders. Without question, it is every employee’s responsibility at all levels. It is the intent of Advanced Demolition to comply with all governing laws, regulations, and rules according to the State of Florida, Local County and OSHA. To do this, we must constantly be aware of conditions in all work areas that can produce injuries. Prevention of occupationally induced injuries and illnesses is of such consequence that it will be given precedence over operating productivity, whenever necessary. To the greatest degree possible, management will provide all mechanical and physical activities required for personal safety and health, in keeping with the highest standards. Our program embodies proper attitudes towards injury and illness prevention the part of supervisors and employees. It also requires cooperation in all safety and health matters, not only between superviso r and employee but also between each employee and their coworkers. Our objective is a safety and health program that will reduce the number of injuries and illnesses to an absolute minimum, not merely in keeping with, but surpassing the best experience of operations like ours. Building Demolition and Site Restoration: 1. Remove existing 1 story Wood building.1,612sf @ $1.95 per foot. $3,143.00 2. Pump & remove existing septic tank @ $950 per tank $ 950.00 3. Back fill site with clean fill material. 200 yards @ $12.00 per yard $2,400.00 4. Restore site with Bahia Sod. 11,000 sf @ $.34 per sf. $3,740.00 5. Tipping Fees: 8 loads @ $550.00 per load $4,400.00 6. Provide permit for septic tank removal. 7. Remove and dispose of all Freon, bulbs, and ballasts prior to building demolition. 8. Manifest of all Freon, bulbs and ballasts removal will be available upon completion. 9. Provide all trucking, dumpsters for hauling c&d to a DEP approved landfill facility.
