Home My WebLink About03-11-2025 Canvassing Board MinutesMINUTES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE CANVASSING BOARD MEETING MARCH 11, 2025 CALL TO ORDER -MARCH 11, 2025 City Clerk/Canvassing Board Member Sibbitt called the Canvassing Board to order at 4:11 p.m. in the office of the Supervisor of Elections, 119 W. Kaley Street Orlando, FL. BOARD MEMBERS: Member Sibbitt, Member Forges, Member Chacon, Alternate Member Duffy, and Alternate Member Mellen ALSO PRESENT: City Attorney Geller and Recording Clerk Parks ABSENT: None. BRIEFING Supervisor of Elections Representative Rosa Maldonado explained the order of procedures to follow for the canvassing of questionable vote -by -mail ballots; she also briefly explained that three (3) questionable vote -by -mail ballots were received two (2) with no signature and one (1) with a signature that did not match the signature on file with the Supervisor of Elections Office, which is deemed an automatic rejection. CERTIFY THE PUBLIC TEST RESULTS FROM FEBRUARY 27,2025 The certification of the public test was done after the review of the questionable ballots (see below). REVIEW QUESTIONABLE OR PROTESTED VOTE -BY -MAIL BALLOTS Supervisor of Elections Representative Rosa Maldonado gave a brief explanation as to why the following three (3) ballots were deemed questionable to which the Board reviewed and made determinations for each questionable ballot. Questionable Ballot #1: (Alva Peart) —No Signature on ballot. MOTION: Move to reject the ballot of (Alva PearD pending cure by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday March 13t", Moved by Member Chaeon, seconded by Member Forges; Motion carried unanimously. Questionable Ballot #2: (E-Lilalee Peait) — No Signature on ballot. MOTION: Move to reject the ballot of (Fulalee Pea rt) pending cure by 5:00 12.m. on Thursday, March 13"; Moved by Member Forges, seconded by Member Chacon, Motion carried unanimously. Questionable Ballot #3: (Sherika J Finley) — Signature did not match name on file with the Supervisor of Elections (SOE) Office. MOTION: Move to reject the ballot of (Sherika J Finley) pending a cure by 5 p.m. on Thursday March 13"; Moved by Member Chacon, seconded by Member Forges; Motion carried unanimously. Ocoee Canvassing Board March 11, 2025 ACCEPT THE VOTE -BY -MAIL BALLOTS RECEIVED BY THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS OFFICE At their January 7, 2025, Cio� Commission Meeting the Ocoee City Commission approved the Supervisor of Elections to open and run unquestionable vote -by -mail ballots utilizing the Orange County Canvassing Board Criteria. Member Sibbitt was present this morning when the 277 vote -by - mail ballots were opened and processed, Member Forges was asked to accompany SOE staff to open and process the additional 10 vote -by -mail ballots that were received by USPS mail midday. (Recessftom 4:25 p. m. — 4:39 p. m.) CERTIFY THE PUBLIC TEST RESULTS FROM FEBRUARY 27,2025 Member Sibbitt explained she was present at the February 27, 2025, Public Test and further shared how the public test was conducted for the Charter Amendment questions and the District 4 Commissioner seat. Members Chacon and Forges reviewed all the public test tapes that were signed by Member Sibbitt on February 27Ih MOTION: Move to certify the results from the public test conducted on February 27',Moved by Member Forges, seconded by Member Chacon; Motion carried unanimously. PROVISIONALS Supervisor of Elections staff advised there were no provisional ballots. (Recess from 4:45 p.m. — 5:45 p.m.) DUPLICATING BALLOTS REJECTED BY THE TABULATOR AND PROCESSING DUPLICATED BALLOTS (IF NEEDED) Supervisor of Elections Representative Rosa Maldonado announced there was one (1) oversees ballot requiring duplication for processing, and the Canvassing Board members approved the duplication of the overseas ballot. (Recess fi,om 5:50 p. m. — 7:31 p.m) Alternate Member Mellen left the meeting at 6:50p.m. and Alternate Member Duffy left the meeting at 7:13 p.m. District 4: Ages Hart District 4: George Oliver III Amendment #1: Total Votes Cast - 751 Total Ballots - 350 Total Ballots - 401 2 Ocoee Canvassing Board March 11, 2025 Amendment #2: Amendment #3: Total Ballots Cast — 1351 Total Ballots Cast Yes - 729 Total Ballots Cast No - 622 Total Ballots Cast - 1332 Total Ballots Cast Yes - 847 Total Ballots Cast No - 485 AUDIT SELECTION To determine which precinct would be audited at the Canvassing/Audit Board Meeting on Friday, March 14, 2025, a random selection was conducted by selecting from a cup and (Precinct 0008) was chosen. Then a draw of numbers took place to determine which amendment question would be audited, to which (Amendment Question 3) was picked. Thus, on March 14, 2025, the Canvassing Board will be auditing Precinct 0008 Amendment Question 3.
