Subject: Approval of Federal Fiscal Year 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance
Grant (JAG) Program. (Police Chief Ogburn)
Background Summary:
This year, $10,000.00 has been made available to the City of Ocoee Police Department through the 2024
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance
Grant (JAG) Formula Program Committee wishes to submit the attached 51% Letter to the Office of Criminal
Justice Grants in Tallahassee. This letter lists the various programs for which the participating law
enforcement agencies in Orange County plan to spend the $289,690.00 allocated to Orange County agencies.
It confirms the City’s approval of the allocations. The Mayor must sign the letter and application. If approved,
the City of Ocoee will receive $10,000.00 to purchase equipment for Law Enforcement Training and
Equipment.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners authorize the Mayor to sign the 51% Letter and grant
application allowing the Police Department to apply for the $10,000.00 that has been made available to the
Ocoee Police Department through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program to
purchase equipment for Law Enforcement Equipment and Technology?
Recommendations:
It is recommended that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners authorize the Mayor to sign the 51%
Letter and grant application allowing the Police Department to apply for $10,000.00 that has been made
available to the Ocoee Police Department through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant
(JAG) and accept funding to purchase equipment for Law Enforcement Equipment and Technology.

Financial Impacts:
$10,000.00 has been made available to the Ocoee Police Department through the 2024 Edward Byrne
