Bluford Avenue Ocoee, Florida March 27, 2025 MINUTES 6:15 PM 50�• •-r Chair Lewis called the CACOPD meeting to order at 6:26 PM, in the Commission Chambers of Ocoee City Hall, located at 1 N. Bluford Avenue, Chair Lewis led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a Moment of Silence. Recording Clerk Maldonado called the roll and declared a quorum present. Present: Chair Lewis, Members Brown, Garay, Meeks, Mellen, and Lomneck (arrived after the call to order) Absent: Member Garone Also Present: Commissioner Kennedy, Sergeant Coleman, and Recording Clerk Maldonado * �-*•I �1, 1. Chair Lewis referenced an earlier discussion about sending letters of appreciation to two former board members for their service to CACOPD. He stated that he would provide his draft to Recording Clerk Maldonado and asked her to circulate it to the rest of the Board for feedback, Sergeant Coleman informed the Board that there is a remaining balance of $1,300 for the FY 24-25 budget. Previous purchases included $1,200 in gift cards for awards: $100 each for the Officer and Civilian of the Quarter, and $200 each for the Officer and Civilian of the Year. Sergeant Coleman advised that there was a request for a $500 check for the COPS Foundation, which she has received, and she inquired how the Board would like to present the check. She further noted that the Board had also requested a $500 check for the Explorers Program, but the City Manager and Commissioner funded all expenses, allowing the return of the $500 to ••! •-• Meeting March 27, 2025 CACOPD, bringing their available balance to $1,300. Discussion ensued regarding the remaining funds. The Board requested Lt. lannuzzi attend the next meeting to present the check for the COPS Foundation. 2. Quarterly Award Nominee Selection The Board reviewed the nominees for Officer and Civilian of the Quarter. The floor was opened for discussion and to conduct a vote. Sergeant Coleman provided details on upcoming events for the Community Affairs Division: • Citizens Public Safety Academy • DEA Drug Take Back • Torch Run for Special Olympics • Family Fun Day • Community Picnic on May 3, 2025, at Central Park • National Night Out • Police Teen Academy • Casting with a Cop The Board requested to receive a quarterly crime statistics report. The Board formally requested that City Officials take into consideration the scheduling of events to avoid conflicts with religious holidays and other significant occasions, thus facilitating the participation of all members.
