Bluford Avenue ▪ Ocoee, Florida 34761 Phone: (407) 905-3100 ▪ www.ocoee.org STAFF REPORT Meeting Date: August 19, 2025 Item #: 13 Contact Name: Hseth Burch Department Director: Stephen Krug Contact Number: Ext. 7081 City Manager: Craig Shadrix Subject: Approval for the Endorsement of Eligible Projects under the Resilient Florida Program. (Public Works Director Krug) Background Summary: The Resilient Florida Program within the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection was created to help coastal and inland communities plan for the impacts of climate change, including flooding and sea level rise. The Resilient Florida Program offers grants for community planning as well as grants to implement projects that adapt critical assets to risk associated with flooding and sea level rise. Communities seeking funding from the Resilient Florida Program must be endorsed by their governing body. The City recently participated in Orange County’s efforts to update their Vulnerability Assessment and found there is a need for the City to update its GIS inventory of critical assets, establish a Citywide Vulnerability Assessment, and implement projects addressing needs found in the County’s Vulnerability Assessment update and subsequent City Vulnerability Assessment. Public Works recommends endorsing the above eligible planning and implementation projects under the Resilient Florida Program within the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection. Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners endorse eligible projects under the Resilient Florida Program within the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection? Recommendations: Staff recommends the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners endorse eligible projects under the Resilient Florida Program within the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection. Attachments: 1. Endorseent Letter 2. Project List Financial Impacts: There is no financial impact at this time as the City explores its grant opportunities to protect its critical facilities and increase community resiliency.
