Subject: Approval for the Endorsement of Eligible Projects under the Resilient Florida
Program. (Public Works Director Krug)
Background Summary:
The Resilient Florida Program within the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection was created to help
coastal and inland communities plan for the impacts of climate change, including flooding and sea level rise.
The Resilient Florida Program offers grants for community planning as well as grants to implement projects
that adapt critical assets to risk associated with flooding and sea level rise. Communities seeking funding from
the Resilient Florida Program must be endorsed by their governing body.
The City recently participated in Orange County’s efforts to update their Vulnerability Assessment and found
there is a need for the City to update its GIS inventory of critical assets, establish a Citywide Vulnerability
Assessment, and implement projects addressing needs found in the County’s Vulnerability Assessment
update and subsequent City Vulnerability Assessment. Public Works recommends endorsing the above
eligible planning and implementation projects under the Resilient Florida Program within the Office of
Resilience and Coastal Protection.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners endorse eligible projects under the Resilient Florida
Program within the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection?

Florida Program within the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection.

RE: Resilient Florida Program applications for funding
To whom it may concern,
The Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of Ocoee endorse the
projects identified by City staff for planning and implementation that are eligible
under the Resilient Florida Program within the Office of Resilience and Coastal
Protection. Updating the City’s GIS inventory of critical assets, establishing a
Citywide Vulnerability Assessment, and implementing projects addressing the needs
found in the County’s Vulnerability Assessment update and subsequent City
Vulnerability Assessment align with the City’s goals and objectives described in the
Envision 2045 Comprehensive Plan and with the State’s mitigation and resiliency
goals and objectives (in accordance with the FS 380.093).
For additional information or inquiry, please contact the City of Ocoee’s Floodplain
Manager, Hseth Burch at 407-905-3170 or hburch@ocoee.org.
Sincerely,
