Subject: Approval to Replace the 3 Chlorine Tanks and Pumping System at the City of Ocoee
Wastewater Treatment Plant. (Utilities Director Bolling)
Background Summary:
The Ocoee Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) uses chlorine for disinfection as the final step in the
wastewater treatment process. The approved City of Ocoee Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 includes
$86,000 to replace the disinfection equipment, specifically the three chlorine tanks and associated pumping
system. The disinfection equipment is nearing the end of its lifespan, and timely replacement is critical for
compliance with the Department of Environmental Protection WWTP Permit and the City's ability to produce
reclaimed water for irrigation. Guardian Equipment Inc. submitted the lowest quote at $81,150.00 and is a
single source vendor.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners approve the replacement of the three chlorine tanks
and pumping system at the WWTP by Guardian Equipment Inc. at a cost of $81,150.00?
Recommendations:
Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners authorize the City Manager to cause the
replacement of the 3 chlorine tanks and pumping system at the WWTP by contracting with Guardian
Equipment Inc. at a cost of $81,150.00, and authorize the City Manager to approve changes to this contract up
to the limit of his purchasing authority for each change order.
