Subject: Approval to Replace the Base Station for the Sensus FlexNet Metering

Background Summary:
As part of the approved City of Ocoee Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026, the Water Field Capital Improvement
budget includes $78,000 to replace the tower antenna base station for the Sensus FlexNet Water Metering
System. The tower base station collects and transmits meter data for water billing, and the existing tower
antenna base station utilizes outdated technology and has reached the end of its useful life. This has resulted
in increased manual rereads and delays with consumption data being transferred into the customer portal.
Core & Main, who is the sole source provider of Sensus products, has provided a quote of $67,540.54 to
install a new base station that is supported by a five-year protection plan.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commission approve to contract Core & Main to replace the base
station for the Sensus FlexNet Metering System?
Recommendations:
Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commission authorize the replacement of the Sensus
base station by contracting with Core & Main at a cost of $67,540.54. Staff also recommends that the City
Manager be authorized to approve changes to this contract up to the limit of his purchasing authority for each
change order and up to the budgeted amount for this project for all change orders.
