0 CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Beck at 6:15 PM in the Commission Chambers of City Hall
located at 1 N. Bluford Avenue, Ocoee.
Chair Beck led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of personal reflection. Recording
Clerk Torres proceeded with the roll call and confirmed the presence of a quorum.
Present: Chair Beck, Vice -Chair Maxwell, Member Singh, Member Mellen, Member Henderson and
Member Smith
Absent: None
Also Present: Parks and Leisure Services Assistant Director Gaines and Recording Clerk Torres
First line of Mission Statement was read by Chair Beck "The general mission of the Human Relations
Diversity Board ("HRDB") is to promote understanding, respect, goodwill, and equality among all
citizens and businesses of the City of Ocoee."
Chair Beck welcomed Member Smith as the newest appointee on the board.

Vice -Chair Maxwell asked the Board to consider a name for the video project. After a brief discussion,
members agreed on the title "Discover Ocoee."
HRDB Meeting
October 2, 2025
Chair Beck stated she would update the video title and submission form to reflect the new name and
clarify the City's use of submitted footage. She plans to present the up ates an v eo at t e cto er
21, 2025, Commission Meeting. Pending Commission approval, the Board would work on the project
through November and December, review it in January, and release it by spring 2026,
Chair Beck reviewed the workshops held this year, noting that UCF representatives who have been
leading them can tailor future sessions based on the board's chosen topics. Discussion followed, and
members suggested potential 2026 topics such as English Language Learners (E.L.L.),
Neurodivergence, and the unhoused population. Member Smith requested that all three topics be
presented to the UCF representatives for feedback.
Vice -Chair Maxwell suggested recognizing the past Tiesta de Colores" event and brought a DVD of
the footage, asking if it could be uploaded to the City's YouTube channel. Parks and Leisure Services
Assistant Director Gaines said he would have Staff review the footage and noted that the City now
celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, which evolved from that event.

Chair Beck asked if the Veterans' Speaker event could be reposted on the City's social media to
coincide with the Veterans' Day ceremony on November 1 1th. Parks and Leisure Services Assistant
Director Gaines agreed.

located at 1 N. Bluford Avenue, Ocoee. Recording Clerk Torres proceeded with the roll call and
determined a quorum not present.
