(Deputy City Clerk Parks) Background Summary: The Code Enforcement Board was created by Ordinance No. 741 on June 16, 1981. The purpose of this Board is to review residential property infractions of the City Technical Codes, negotiate compliance and impose fines for failure to comply. The City utilizes a magistrate apart from the Code Board for code enforcement issues involving commercial properties. The Code Enforcement Board shall consist of seven (7) regular members and two (2) alternate members, all with three-year terms. Currently, the Board has five (5) regular members and no alternate members. There is one (1) regular member seat with a term set to expire June 2026, one (1) vacant regular member seat with a term set to expire June 2026, one (1) vacant regular member seat with a term set to expire June 2027, and two (2) vacant alternate member seats. At the May 5, 2026, City Commission meeting, the Commission was notified that discussion and consideration for appointments would be made at the May 19, 2026, City Commission meeting. To date, the City Clerk’s Department has received three applications from residents interested in serving on the Code Enforcement Board. Current Vice-Chair Warren Lewis has applied for reappointment as a regular member to serve an additional three-year term. In 2025, he attended 5 out of 6 meetings, and he has attended all meetings held to date in 2026. Annette Brown and Roderick Wilson have also applied for appointments as a regular member and are willing to either fill the vacant unexpired term ending in June 2027 or serve a full three-year term ending in June 2029. There are no additional applications for this board on file. Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commission: 1) Consider reappointing Warren Lewis as a regular member of the Code Enforcement Board to serve a full three-year term expiring in June 2029? 2) Consider appointing Annette Brown and Roderick Wilson as regular members of the Code Enforcement Board to either: • Fill the vacant unexpired term ending in June 2027; or • Serve a full three-year term expiring in June 2029? 3) Provide the names of two (2) individuals to serve as alternate members, with terms expiring in June 2029?
