The invocation was led by Commissioner Oliver, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag led by Commissioner Firstner, Deputy City Clerk Parks called the roll and declared a quorum present. 'F,resent: Mayor Johnson, Commissioner Kennedy, Commissioner Wilsen, Commissioner Firstrier, Commissioner Oliver Absent: None 9 ..4 _N_ 0 Boys and Girls Club of West Orange Update Mac Reed, Chief Impact Officer for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, announced that the new June Family Branch is scheduled to open in August 2026. He stated that the 20,000- square-foot facility will include 10,000 square feet dedicated to youth members (elementary school -aged children) and 10,000 square feet dedicated to teen members (middle and high school -aged students). He further noted that an additional 10,000-square-foot gymnasium is planned for a future expansion. Amber Shaw, Site Coordinator for the Ocoee Middle School Boys & Girls Club, provided a brief overview of the Ocoee Middle School site and expressed her enthusiasm for the opening of the new branch. (Deputy Fire Chief Van Camp) 4Approval to Submit an Application for the FY 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program for Self -Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Replacement Equipment. Second Reading of Ordinance for Fiscal Year 2025-26 Mid -Year Budget Amendment. (Finance Director Weber) Finance Director Weber advised that no amendments have been made to the ordinance since its first reading on May 19th and stated that Staff recommends approval. Commissioner Kennedy- Commented on the following: 6:46 P110, -- 650 PM 1) Expressed his concern with how elected officials, at all levels, are inconsistent with their stance on Home Rule, and encouraged residents to educate themselves on the subject matter. 2) Praised City Manager Shadrix for his consistency and proactiveness regarding tax reform. 3) Stated that the Citizen Advisory Council of the Police Department (CACOPD) currently 3 1 P a g e Mayor Johnson — Commented on the following: 6M PM — 656 PM 1) Expressed his views on Home Rule. 2) Expressed his views on tax reform and encouraged residents to educate themselves on tax reform. Commissioner Wilsen stated that she previously received the Home Rule Hero Certificate from the Florida League of Cities and expressed her disappointment with the representatives of the Florida League of Cities. She also encouraged residents to educate themselves on the subject matter. 3) Mayor Johnson thanked everyone for their concern and well -wishes during his recent health episode and expressed his appreciation to both the Fire Department and Police Department for their swift response and assistance.
