Background Summary:
The Institute of Police Technology is awarding the City of Ocoee Police Department $7,985.37 in grant funding
to support Florida's Bicycle and Pedestrian Focused Initiative on Communication and High Visibility
Enforcement. These funds aim to use law enforcement to reinforce safe pedestrian, bicyclist, and driver
behaviors in priority counties in Florida. The goal of this effort is to reduce traffic crashes resulting in severe
and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists through high-visibility education and enforcement detail. The
grant will fund overtime high-visibility education and enforcement operations through May 7, 2027.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commission approve the Letter of Agreement and Contract to accept
the additional $7,985.37 made available to the Ocoee Police Department through Florida's Bicycle Pedestrian
Focused Initiative of Communication and High Visibility Enforcement Grant?
Recommendations:
It is recommended that the Honorable Mayor and City Commission approve the Letter of Agreement and
Contract to accept the additional $7,985.37 made available for the Ocoee Police Department through Florida's
Bicycle Pedestrian Focused Initiative of Communication and High Visibility Enforcement Grant.
