BACKGROUNDIDISCUSSION The FY 2007/2008 budget, approved by the Mayor and City Commission, provided $20,000.00 in Small Equipment (5230) for the purchase of 5 (five) digital portable radios. In order to maintain compatibility and interoperability with Motorola radios currently utilized by the Orange County radio users group, Motorola radios must be purchased. Motorola is a sole source provider for these radios and offers only the Orange County contract pricing. Since the budget was approved, Motorola has reduced its pricing to allow the purchase of an additional radio for an extra $1200.00 more than the $20,000.00 originally budgeted. Forfeiture monies can be used to make up the $1200.00 difference. Additionally, the City of Maitland is attempting to coordinate a group purchase of 100 radios to obtain 10 (ten) free radios. Ifthe City of Ocoee purchases the 6 (six) radios through this group purchase, it will receive 1 (one) free radio through the Maitland group purchase. The purchase price includes the radios and all required software and accessories. The extra digital radios will help the Ocoee Police Department achieve its ultimate goal for its portable radio system to become completely digital for security purposes and to comply with government regulations. 1 . ~.. , Goclon, Steve Subject: FW: OcoeePDXTS500011 StandardPkgSpecialP25Promoy6eaOct07 XLS )ate: :;ustomer: ~ddress: ~ttention: ~hone: =ax ::mail: ::quip.
