CALL TO ORDER I Mayor Vandergrift called the special session to order at 6:55 p.m. in the Commission Chambers of City Hall. City Clerk Eikenberry called roll and declared a quorum present. Roll Call: Commissioner Hood (absent), Commissioner Anderson, Mayor Vandergrift, Commissioner Keller, and Commissioner Johnson. Also Present: Assistant City Attorney Rosenthal, City Manager Frank, City Clerk Eikenberry I A. CALL TO ORDER 1. APPROVAL OF BUDGET TRANSFER FOR EMERGENCY PURCHASE OF 3 POLICE VEHICLES. (Deputy Chief Brown) Recently the police department has had three (3) vehicles involved in crashes and in need of replacement. Two (2) of the vehicles were totaled and one (1) vehicle is scheduled for surplus October I. The insurance company has paid damages in the total of $23,990.89. Along with the money received from our insurance claim, an additional $30,509.11 is needed to purchase replacement police patrol vehicles. Three (3) used, fully equipped patrol vehicles are available for purchase at the Longwood Police Department. The Longwood Police Department currently has three (3) marked patrol vehicles available which meet our existing need for the replacement of damaged vehicles. The vehicles, which are late model and low mileage, have been inspected by the City of Ocoee fleet maintenance manager B ill Simmons. Mr. Simmons verified the vehicles are in good condition and meet our current fleet standards. Police Chief Reffett summarized the need for the three police vehicles and said that the Fleet Maintenance Department examined vehicles available through the Longwood Police Department and found them to be in excellent condition. The insurance company has paid $23,990.89 for vehicles involved in crashes and an additional $30,509.11 will be taken from the Police Department Budget for a total cost of $54,500 for all three vehicles (Expedition $19,340; 2004 Crown Vic $18,800; 2006 Crown Vic $16,250). He added that the vehicles come complete with grill strobe lights, overhead lights, prisoner transport cages, hard plastic seats, rear window bars, and the stripe package, which would generally cost from $27,000 - $28,000, so we are getting them at a good price. Commissioner Anderson. seconded by Commissioner Keller moved to approve the budget transfer and the emergency purchase of three police vehicles at a cost totaling $54.500.
