Background Summary: In the last fiscal year, the City awarded Valley Crest Landscape Maintenance a contract to provide minor improvements to the medians on Maguire Road south of the Turnpike. The City has been working with Valley Crest on a permanent landscape solution for this corridor. Part of this process was to determine the types of plant materials which have a greater survival rate in the harsh environment created by the narrow medians on Maguire Road. Following several months of field meetings and inspections of surrounding landscape environments, Valley Crest offers the attached proposal for the improvements on Maguire Road. This proposed landscape plan will provide robust plants that have a history of thriving in less than ideal soils that will flourish year round. Issue: Request the City Commission award the Maguire Road landscape improvements to Valley Crest. Recommendations Recommend the City Commission award the Maguire Road landscape improvements per the attached proposal, to Valley Crest Landscape Maintenance-Orlando. Attachments: Valley Crest Maguire Road Landscape & Fee Proposal, May 12, 2008. Financial Impact: The funding for this project will come from the following; $11,000 in funding for Maguire Rd. was carried over from the 2006-07 budget, $20,000 from developer commitments, $50,000 was budgeted in ROW Landscaping and the remaining $12,103 will come from money budgeted for entrance ways, both of Capital Improvements account line 001-541-10-6302.
