HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem #02 Reappointments to Code Enforcement AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET Contact Name: Contact Number: Melanie Sibbitt Ext. 1026 Meeting Date: June 3, 2008 Item # 2- ~w~d~ ~~ Department Director: _ _ _._ ~ City Manager: _ ~ . _ _. Subject: Reappointments to the Code Enforcement Board. Background Summary: The Code Enforcement Board was created by Ordinance No. 741 on June 16, 1981. The purpose of this board is to review infractions of the City technical Codes, negotiate compliance and impose fines for failure to comply. The Code Enforcement Board is to have seven (7) regular members and two (2) alternate members, all with three year terms. There are currently no applications on file. The three-year terms of Randy Chancey, Robert Godek, Michael Godek, and Steven Ballard will expire in June. All except one of the members have indicated they are willing to serve another term, if reappointed, which leaves a vacant regular member position. Mr. Chancey has enjoyed his eleven years on the board and is looking to pursue other opportunities at this time. There are two alternate members currently on the board. Chairman Godek is recommending to move up Alternate Member Alexander to the regular member position. Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners reappoint Robert Godek, Michael Godek, and Steven Ballard to serve another three-year term on the Code Enforcement Board ending June 2011, and consider moving up Alternate Member Alexander to the vacant regular member position? Recommendations Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners reappoint Robert Godek, Michael Godek, and Steven Ballard to serve another three-year term on the Code Enforcement Board ending June 2011, and consider moving up Alternate Member Alexander to the vacant regular member position. Attachments: Attendance Lists for Code Enforcement for 2007 and 2008. E-mail of resignation from Randy Chancey. Letter from Chairman Godek recommending Alternate Member Alexander be considered as regular member. Thanks, ~g~~ Melanie Sibbitt Deputy City Clerk 150 N. Lakeshore Dr. Ocoee, FL 34761 407-905-3100 ext:91026 407 -656-5725 Fax 5/28/2008 May 28, 2008 To: City of Ccoee City Commission From: Bob Godek Code Enforcement Board Chairman Re: Board Membership Regrettably, after 11 years of service, Randy Chancey has decided not to be re- appointed to another term on the Code Enforcement Board. His last meeting will be in June. The board will miss his insight, input, and enthusiasm. I would like to recommend that alternate Carolyn Alexander be appointed to a regular position on the board. Whatever you decide, we will still need a replacement as either a regular or altemate board member. Respectfully, Robert H. Godek Chairman Code Enforcement Board
