Proclamation - Recreation and Parks Month
History
The National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) and Florida Recreation and
Parks Association (FRPA) both recognize the month of July as Recreation and Parks
Month. This is an opportunity to emphasize the importance and benefits of recreation
and parks. The attached proclamation mentions many of these important benefits.
The City of Ocoee has made a substantial investment to support recreation programs
and to create quality parks for the Ocoee Community. This proclamation provides an
opportunity to also remember the impact this investment has on the community, the
continuation of services and on the quality recreational facilities.
Parks and Recreation Departments across the country annually use July to celebrate the
kick off of summer programming as well as a time to bring their communities together to
volunteer, get involved in great outdoor activities and advocate for parks and recreation.
The Ocoee Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the citizens of Ocoee to come
and celebrate National Recreation and Parks Month on July 19th from 11 :OOam. to
2:00pm. and enjoy this fun-filled afternoon, complete with games, activities, inflatables,
water slide, FREE hot Dogs, refreshments, and FREE admission to the Ocoee Family
Aquatic Center from 11 :OOam-7:00pm with a movie by the pool at dusk.
