Home My WebLink About05-27-2008 Minutes MINUTES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD MEETING MAY 27, 2008 CALL TO ORDER Chairman Godek called the regular meeting of the Ocoee Code Enforcement Board to order at 7:01 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at City Hall. Member Lowery led the Invocation and Member M. Godek led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The roll was called and a quorum was declared present. PRESENT: Chairman Godek, Vice Chair Chancey, Members M. Godek, Lowery, and Alternate Member Alexander. Also present were Code Enforcement Supervisor Loeffler, Code Enforcement Officer Rodriguez, Code Enforcement Officer Siegrist, Permitting Clerk Everett, Building Municipal Inspector II Navarro, Attorney Sneed, and Deputy City Clerk Sibbitt. ABSENT: Members Ballard, Sais, Stanley and Alternate Member Elliott were absent excused. GUESTS: None. Permitting Clerk Everett administered the oath to Code Enforcement Supervisor Loeffler, Code Enforcement Officer Rodriguez, Code Enforcement Officer Siegrist, Building Municipal Inspector II Navarro, and anyone intending to speak regarding a case. Officer Rodriguez gave a detailed history of the case with exhibits and further stated, as of today, the property is in non-compliance. Nadia Bonaparte, owner of the property, stated she is before the board to ask for an extension to remove the vehicle. She is trying to sell the vehicle and has nowhere to park it other then her driveway. She further explained she needs time to post pictures of the vehicle on a website. Chairman Godek inquired as to how long the vehicle has been for sale. Ms. Bonaparte stated it has been for sale for several months. He further inquired if she has heard of anyone interested in purchasing it and Ms. Bonaparte stated she has received calls. Member Lowery inquired if she has considered looking into putting her vehicle on a used car lot. He explained to her that there are some dealers who will try to sell her car for a fee. Member M. The total amount due is $2900.00 Page 3 of 8 Code Enforcement Board Minutes May 27, 2008 Keith Brown, ABC Liquor, stated he met with the board on February 26th and finished the sign by March 19th. A final inspection was called in; however, one of their retail clerks removed the permit before the inspection was done so the building inspector failed the inspection for not having a permit present. He explained he is before the board for a reduction since he was not aware that they had an issue with Code Enforcement until they received the notice of non-compliance. Member M. Officer Rodriguez stated the respondents were given until May 23rd to come into compliance with the final inspection. She stated on May 22nd they called for an inspection and also cancelled it the same day. The property is in non-compliance. Kelly Anderson, 701 Broadway Drive, stated he did call for an inspection and it failed everything. He further stated Crums Climate came by their home on Friday and only did a walk through and did not correct anything. Municipal Inspector Navarro stated he did an inspection on May 6th and his conclusion is that the system is inoperable as well as a list of many other problems that he found. He contacted Crums Climate Control and advised them of the corrections needing to be done. Member Lowery inquired if Crums would need to come back with a whole new set of plans. Municipal Inspector Navarro stated it would be fair to say that they do need to come back with a new set of plans. He stated when he spoke with Crums Climate Control they advised him that they would be bringing a new set of plans; however, he has not seen anything yet. A brief discussion ensued on how the violation could be corrected and who the board could impose the fine on. Member Lowerv. seconded bv Member M.
