The Byrne Formula Grant has partially funded the cities DUI enforcement program for the past four years (2005/2006 to 2007/2008). With the end of DUI enforcement program, the lack of available funding made the start of a new Ocoee program impossible. As this year's monies have been drastically reduced, the participating agencies have opted to pool the available monies to support a county-wide Electronic Surveillance Support Team (ESST). Issue: Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize the Mayor to sign the Byrne Formula Grant Letter in compliance with State of Florida Rule llD-9, F.A.C., approving the distribution of $ 182.897 (allocation available) of Federal Fiscal Year 2008 JAGC/Byrne Formula Grant Program funds for the projects within Orange County? Recommendations It is respectfully recommended the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize the Mayor to sign the Byrne Formula Grant Letter approving the distribution of available funds for the projects within Orange County.
