HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-25-85 e SPECIAL TOWN MEETING HELD JUNE 25, 1985 PRESENT: Mayor Ison, Commissioners Cox, Bateman, Hager, City Manager Griffin, and City Clerk Catron. ABSENT: Commissioner Rodgers DISCUSSION: Began at 7:45 P.M. Mayor Ison asked the two citizens present if they had any complaints or gripes they would like to discuss. Ruth Minor, 216 S. Lakeshore Drive, Ocoee, asked about having Starke Lake cleaned up. The water seems to be getting very dirty and brownish in color. She expressed concern that the same thing may happen to Starke Lake that happened to Lake Apopka. Commissioner Hager explained that Department of Environmental Regulation would not let them clean any vegetation from around the lake except for a stretch of about twenty feet. City Manager Griffin also explained that the DER was conducting experiments with the vegetation and until they were through, there was nothing we could do. There is a possibility we could have the lake aerated, this would help clean the lake to some extent. City Manager Griffin stated that he would also have our people check all of the drains around the area of the lake and make sure they are not stopped up. . Nathan Dykgraaf, Orange Tree Plaza, Maguire Road, asked about the subdivision regulations and if some provision could be made between small commercial and regular subdivisions. He explained that he had submitted a set of plans and they had been at the City Engineer's office for over three weeks. He didn't know what the problem was and he stated that he did not feel it was the building department because they had apologized for the delay; but for some reason the City Engineer had not returned the plans until yesterday. City Manager Griffin stated that he was aware of the problem, but could not say why the City Engineer had the plans for so long. Mayor Ison said that he would send a letter to Tom Kelley, City Engineer. Mr. Dykgraaf also suggested separating the residential and commerical provisions in the sub- division regulations. City Manager Griffin, Mayor Ison and Commissioners Cox, Hager and Bateman were not in favor of separating those provisions. JW~ City Clerk Helen Catron e~ Town Meeting closed at 8:20 P.M.
