HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-19-88 SS e e e AGENDA 10-18-88 ITEM III B CITY COMMISSION SPECIAL SESSION HELD SEPTEMBER 19, 1988 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Ison called the special session to order at 7:31 p.m. in the commission chambers and declared a quorum to be present. Mayor Ison then led in the prayer and pledge to the flag. PRESENT: Mayor Ison, Commissioners Bateman, Dabbs, Hager, and Johnson, City Manager Ryan, Assistant City Attorney Woodson, City Clerk Grafton ABSENT:None PUBLIC HEARING - MILLAGE Mayor Ison stated that this is a public hearing for the purpose of establishing the mill levy and the budget and that after the reading of the titles of the ordinances the hearing will be continued until September 27, 1988. City Manager Ryan read the title of Ordinance 88-30 which establishes the mill levy for FY88/89 to be 3 mills which will generate $591,600. There were no comments from the citizens or the commissioners. Mayor Ison stated that this hearing will be continued until September 27, 1988 at 7:30 p.m. PUBLIC HEARING - BUDGET City Manager Ryan read the title of Ordinance 88-31 adopting a budget for FY88/89 with total revenues and expenditures of $6,527,335. When Mayor Ison asked for comments from the citizens, Mr. Mohnacky asked why more hearings were necessary. Mayor Ison explained that in order to satisfy both the Trim Bill regarding adoption of a budget and the state statute regarding the number of days between the advertising date and the actual adoption date for an ordinance it was necessary to delay the adoption until September 27, 1988. There were no further comments from either citizens or commissioners. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 7:39 p.m.~L l L Thomas R. Ison, Mayor
