HELD NOVEMBER 23, 1988
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ison at 12:05 p.m. in the
conference room.
PRESENT: Mayor Ison, Commissioners Bateman and Hager, City Clerk
Grafton
There were 24 absentee ballots to be counted. Mayor Ison advised
the board that the privacy envelope must be sealed inside the
large envelope in order for vote to be valid. There were two
ballots not enclosed in privacy envelopes, which left 22 votes to
be counted. The final tabulations, counting the machine votes and
the absentee ballots, were as follows:
SEAT #3 MACHINE ABSENTEE TOTAL
Pct 99 Pct 100
Combs 143 361 12 516
Murnane 202 180 10 392
The Canvassing Board certified the results and declared Combs the
. winner.
Mayor Ison advised that a third precinct will be necessary for the
City of Ocoee by the next presidential election (1990) because of
growth south of Highway 50. Phoenix Development Company has
agreed to supply the location for a fire house in that area, and
that will be a convenient place for the polls.
