HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-26-89 SS - - - MINUTES OF THE OCOEE CITY COMMISSION SPECIAL SESSION HELD JANUARY 26, 1989 The special session was called to order by Mayor Ison at 9:44 p.m. in the conference room. PRESENT: Mayor Ison, Commissioners Combs, Dabbs, Hager and Johnson, City Manager Bateman and City Clerk Grafton ABSENT: None Mayor Ison advised that, after listening to the commissioners interview candidates on Monday and Wednesday, he had made a list of the qualities they were looking for in a City Manager. As he read the list aloud it became apparent that the person the commissioners were looking for would be someone who could be all things to all people and, in the process of doing so, would offend no-one. Commissioner Dabbs commented that the only thing not listed was the ability to walk on water. The serious consensus was that the greatest need was for someone who could talk with and work with the citizens of Ocoee and also handle the growth the City is experiencing. Of the 8 candidates interviewed, it was determined that 2 should be contacted for a second interview: Mr. John Klaiber and Mr. Kent Myers, both of Converse, Texas. City Clerk Grafton was instructed to make travel arrangements for the candidates to be in Ocoee for the weekend of February 4 and 5 and to set up appointments for commissioners to meet individually with them at that time. Commissioner Johnson advised that he would be in Texas this weekend and he would go to Converse and talk to some of the citizens there. Mayor Ison suggested that the City should pay Commissioner Johnson's expenses in Converse and all agreed without a formal vote. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 10:41 p.m.. ~2~ Thomas R.
