MINUTES OF A SPECIAL 1ffiETING OF Trill CITY COUNCIL, HELD ~RIL 8th, 1929.
Called to order by President of the Council, J. J. Robertson, with
~ll members present. ~ayor Minor and Clerk also present.
/counCil voted to authorize Clerk to remit at once the semi-annual
intere st on the ~k18, 000. Refunding Bonds--~~540. plus commission of )
$1.35 and fee on N. Y. Ex. of 54 cents. This is due on April 15th, ~~, I
and will come out of the General Fund, as the Paving Assessment Fund \

#208 Smith Building, Orlando, Fla., were present for the purpose of ~\\
explaining their plans to the Council along the line of work in ~
connection with the fires in Ocoee, as follows: These gentlemen ~ t
asked that Ocoee pay to them the sum of ~~50., provided Chase & Co.
and Richardson-~ar~h Corp., would agree to pay the same amount each,
making a total of ~150., and on this amount they would at once start
the work of their Agency to try to find out the guilty person or per-
sons who have set the fires, and if evidence sufficient is produced
by them to get a convi~tion in the Court, then Ocoee is, and hereby
agrees, to pay an addi tional ~f50. to this firm, and they will also
ask the above packing firms to do likewise. If no conviction is se-
cured, then Ocoee owes them nothing more: It was also agreed that .1
~\ any reward offered for conviction would not be claimed by this firm. \~
This fmrm agreed to handle this matter promptly, starting a man in ~~
withina few days, at which time they would advise the Mayor, and ~\
also to keep in touch with him from time to time on the subject. ~
After discussion of the question, on motion of C. F. Fain, seconded
by I. C. Bobo, and unanimously carried, Ocoee was obligated to this
plan, and check for ~~50. was drawn and delivered to Mr. Carter.
It was especially requested that this matter be kept absolutely se-
cret now, and in the future, and this was understood and f!.greed to by
all present. No visitors were in ~h~ room.
