Gentlemen: I wish to enter my protest against the action of the Chairman of the Council, Mr. Clyde Pounds, in that he has used my name in the mutilating of a Public Document of the City of Ocoee, in that he has written on the Resolution adopted Jan. 18th, 1940, concerning the levying of taxes for 1939, the following: "Passed over Mayor Johnston veto," which is untrue. To The City Council, City of Ocoee, Florida. e Gentlemen: Referring to a Resolution adopted by your body on January 18th, 1940, relating to an additional tax levy for the year 1939 of Five Mills xxm to take care of a judgment securedby one G. D. Howell; I respect- fully beg to notify you of my disapproval of said Resolution, and my veto of same, for the following reason: In my opinion the City Council has no authority to levy tax(s for a prece1ding year, as you are attempting -' to do in this case.
