Ocoee, Fla., Feb. 5th, 1940.
To The City Council,
Ocoee, Florida.
Gentlemen:
I wish to enter my protest against the action of the Chairman
of the Council, Mr. Clyde Pounds, in that he has used my name in the
mutilating of a Public Document of the City of Ocoee, in that he has
written on the Resolution adopted Jan. 18th, 1940, concerning the levying
of taxes for 1939, the following: "Passed over Mayor Johnston
veto," which is untrue.
Respectfully,
Mayor, C

1940, relating to an additional tax levy for the year 1939 of Five Mills
xxm to take care of a judgment securedby one G. D. Howell; I respect-
fully beg to notify you of my disapproval of said Resolution, and my
veto of same, for the following reason: In my opinion the City Council
has no authority to levy tax(s for a prece1ding year, as you are attempting
-'
to do in this case.
