Minutes of a Special adjourned meeting of City Council held November 9th 1942.
Meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman Eckles at 8:00 P. M.
Councilmen present: Eckles, Minor, Argo and Bryan. gouncilman Bigelow
was absent. City Attorney, Mayor, Clerk and Marshal present.
Minutes of last regular meeting held November 2nd were read and approved.
Mr. Akerman gave a report on the hotel matter.
Mr. Eckles gave a report on the typewriter that he carried to Orlando to
see about repairs. He told that it would take ~?8 or ~10 for repairs, if
they could be obtained, but we could get a new one for ~32.

Mr. Argo made motion to canvas ballots. Seconded by Mr. Bryan, voted
and carried. .
The ballot sheet prepared by the Inspectors was read by the Clerk.Mr.
Bryan made motion that the report be accepted. The results of the City
Election held November 3rd 1942 are as follows: For Councilmen, C. J.
Farmer 99 votes, J. W. Graves 43 voted, John Minor 85 votes and J. E.
Whitaker 109 votes, ,number of votes cast were 122, with four votes
thrown out. Seconded by Mr. Argo, voted and carried.
The new Councilmen" C. J. Farmer, J~bE.L~Whi:takB.iii and Jolm 1Iinor,re-
elected, were sworn in by the Mayor.
Mr. Argo made motion to make Mr. Farmer Cha.irman of the Council..
Seconded by Mr. Minor, voted and carried. Mr. Farmer then took the chair.
Mr. Bryan-made motion to make Mr. Argo Vice-Chairman.. Seconded by
Mr. Minor. Mr. Argo made motion to make Mr. Bryan Vice-Chairman but '
nlotion died for lack of second. Mr. Bryan's motion voted and carried.
Mr. Argo made motion to ~appoint Lucile as Clerk. Seconded by Mr.
Minor, voted and carried.
Mr. Argo made motion for Carl Sanders to continue as Marshal. Sec~nded
by Mr. Bryan, voted and carried.
Mr. Murray suggested that we only have the services of a City Attorney
as we need him. Mr. Akerman thought the same about the suggestion. Mr.
Bryan made motion to table any action about an Attorney until the next
meeting. Seconded by Mr. Argo, voted and carried.
The matter of a typewriter was brought up again. It was decided to make
payments from the P. O. Rent. Mr. Bryan made motion to buy a typewriter.
Seconded by Mr. Minor, voted and carried.
Mr. Argo made motion to set meetings at 8:00 P. M. instead of 7:30 P. M.
Seconded by Mr. Minor, voted and carried.
llr. Bryan made motion to adjourn. Seconded by Mr. Argo, voted and carried.
Council adjourned at S:OO P. M.
