ORDINANCE NO. 90-22
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA,
RELATING TO REGULATING ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION;
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 959; REPEALING SECTION
39 OF ORDINANCE NO. 638; REPEALING SECTION 9-11
OF ARTICLE I OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE OCOEE CITY CODE;
ADOPTING A NEW SECTION 9-11 OF ARTICLE I OF
CHAPTER 9 OF THE OCOEE CITY CODE; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OCOEE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City commission of the City of Ocoee has
the authority to adopt this Ordinance pursuant to Article VIII of
the Constitution of the state of Florida and Chapter 166, Florida
statutes.
Section 2. Ordinance No. 959, adopted by the City
commission of the City of Ocoee on April 7, 1987, is hereby
repealed in its entirety.
Section 3. Section 39 of Ordinance No. 638, adopted by
the City commission of the City of Ocoee on January 18, 1976, is
hereby repealed in its entirety.
Section 4. Section 9-11 of Article I of Chapter 9 of
the Code of Ordinances of the City of Ocoee, Florida, is hereby
repealed in its entirety.
Section 5. A new Section 9-11 of Article I of Chapter 9
of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Ocoee, Florida, is
hereby adopted as follows:
Section 9-11. Standards Adopted.
To the extent not more permissive than this
Chapter, there is hereby adopted by the City for the
purpose of establishing and prescribing rules and
regulations for electrical construction, maintenance and
repair within the City, those certain standards known
as:
1. National Electrical Code, NFPA No. 70-1990.

2. Notice J (1990 NEC) to the Florida
Electrical Code as adopted by the Central Florida
Advisory Code Committee: provided, however, that
notwithstanding the provisons of said Notice J,
copper wiring and copper appurtenances thereto
are hereby made mandatory in any residential,
commerical or other structure hereafter altered,
built, constructed, erected, repaired, replaced or
moved into the City. The use and/or installation
of aluminum wiring and aluminum appurtenances
thereto is specifically prohibited in any residential,
commerical or other structure hereafter altered,
built, constructed, erected, repaired, replaced or
moved into the City.
Section 6. Severability. If any section, subsection,
sentence, clause, phrase of portion of this Ordinance is for any
reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent
juriSdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct
and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portion hereto.

effective immediately upon passage and adoption.
