HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-06-1945 I I I 121 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD MONDAY, AUGUST 6, 19~5 Present: Councilman Farmer, Fields, Slone and Whitaker, and Mayor Calhoun. . Absent: Council~an Minor. A quorum present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Farmer at 8:30 P. M., and the minutes of the last regular meeting of July 17, 19~5 were read and approved. Councilman Fields made a motion to approve the payment of the following bills: (a) From the Waterworks Fund: Olerk's Salary to August. 1, 19~5 Cash paid out Waterworks man's salary to Augsut 1, 1845 Florida Power Corp. pump bill to 7-5-45 W. S. Darley, water meter sealing press (b) From the General Fund: R. J. MObley Florida Power Corp. City hall lights to 7-5-45 Florida Power Corp. Street lights to 7-5-~5 Dan Cox, 6 hrs labor J. L. Cox, 5 hrs labor Marty Moore, 10 hrs labor Buster Calhoun, 10 hrs labor J. C.Clark, labor on truck, repairs J. M. Herndon, 5 hrs labor Oscar Sanders, 6 hrs labor Winter Garden Fire Department, 1 month services $31.50 3.61 30.00 32.40 5.72 2.30 15.50 225.00 3.60 3.00 6.00 6.00 3.00 3.00 3.60 20.84 The motion to pay the aforesaid bills from the funds above mentioned was seconded by Councilman Whitaker, and carried by a vote of the Council. Many of the boys and girls of the Youth Center was present to accept the paoposition the Council made to them at last regular meeting of Jul~ 17, for the use of Trailer Camp. Councilman Whitaker made a motion that the City furnish to the Youth Center free of charge. this motion was seconded by Councilman Fields, voted upon and carried. A. Mr. Wise present to ask Council for license to be issued him for the sale of beer and wines. Owing toe an ordinance that has been in force for years, the license was rejected. Mr. Hoyle Pounds, Fire Ohief of Winter Garden made a propositioh to fmrnish fire protection for the entire Oorporate Limits of Ocoee for a sum of $250.00 per year, that pay for all expenses of every natare and kind in connection with the proper fire protection and will be furnish this protection by their Commanity Fire Truck. Councilman Whitaker made a motion to accept the proposition, provided the fee can be paid by the month for a periOd of three months at a time, and send the check to Mr. Pounds. this motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted upon by the Council and carried. Councilman Fields made a motion to mark one months water bill paid, for H. M. Daniels and Mrs. J. T. Wiggins, motion was soconded by Councilman Slone, voted and carried. Councilman Whitaker made a motion to pay labor at rate of .50; per hour and .60; per hour for truck driver to haul garbage. Motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted upon and carried.. 123 I The Clerk reported receiving a check from C. M. Gay, Clerk of Circuit Court for $326.40 coming from the sale of property in Ocoee by the County, also a check From the Florida Power Corporation in the amount of $408.90 for personal property taxes. Councilman Slone made a motion that these checks be deposited in general funds, Motion was seconded by Councilman Fields, Voted upon and carried. Councilman Fields made a motion that the Clerk order from w. S. Darley and Company one Meter Sealing Machine with lead discs and wire. Motion was seconded by Councilman Whitaker, ~oted anm carr1eQ, Olerk was instructed to write a letter to Mr. Bourland to ask that he take the matter up with the proper athor1ties to have Starke Lake sprayed f9r mosquitoes. There being no further business, Councilman Whitaker made a motion to recess this meeting subject to call. This motion was aeconded by Councilman Slone, voted upon and carried.
