HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-28-1945 SS I I I 173 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28, 1945 Present: Councilmen Farmer, Fields, Sione and Whitaker, and Mayor Calhoun. Absent: Councilman Minor, A quorum present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Farmer at 7:30 P. M. for the purpose of hearing any and all complaints as to the 1945 assessment rolls. Letter of complaint from Mr. R. B. B!gelow on lots 7 & 8 Block 3, asked that the assessment be brought down to $2,400. to ~ompare with like type property. which is noVl assessed at $2,800. Councilman Slone made a motion to let the assessment stand as it it, Motion was seconded by Councilman Whitaker, voted and carried. M. C. Bryan present to ask that his property lot 37 Sims S/~ Be set at $1,200. being the same as C. J. Farmer and D. W. Mitchel property, after much discussion, Councilman Slone made a motion that his property stand at $1,800. This motion was seconded by Councilman Fields, voted upon and carried. Councilman Fields made a motion to raise C. J. Farmer and ~. W. Mitchel property to $1,600, there being no second to "this motion, the motion died. Councilman Whitaker made a motion to set the personal property now owned by the Florida Citrus Fruits, Inc., formerly the J. D. Cox property, at $1,750.00 for the years 1944 and 1945, motion was seconded by Councilman Fields, voted upon and carried. Councilman Whitaker made a motion to set the vacant lot of" F. H. ~mguire where the hotel was at $500.00. this motion was seconded by Councilman Slorie, voted and carried. Letter from Florida Telephone Corp. ask that their perepaa1 property assessement be set at $600.00 from noW on. Councilman Whitaker made a motion to leave it as it is now'assessed at $1,855.00. motion was seconded by Councilman Fields~ voted and carried. MrS. C. H. Pounds present to get permission in behalf of the Womansl .Club, for a Carnival to come here for the week of January 14th for the benefit of the Polio Drive and the March of ~imes. The Council individua- ally express their approval. " Councilman Slone made a motion to figure the paving footage on lot 4 of the Maguire Addition owned by J. A. Underwood at 73 feet instead of 100 feet as set out on the paving schedule. motion"was seconded by Councilman Whitaker, voted upon and carried.. There being no further business, Councilman Whitaker made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. This motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted upon and carried.
