Present: Councilman Fields, Slone, Minor and Wbitaker, and Mayor Calhoun. Absent: Councilman Farmer. A quorum present. 183 The meeting was called to order by Councilman Minor at 8:15 P. M. and the minutes of last regular meeting held February 4, 1946. were read and approved. Mr. J. B. Rogers present to state that he is applying for the City Attor~ey again, and it was stated his resignation was never accepted but gave him a leave of absence. He applied for th e job on the same basis as before, and that he get a letter from Mr. Claude L. Gray that it is agreeable that Mr. Rogers have the job, and to get up a bill that Mr. Gray might have against the City. Councilman Slone made a motion to hire Mr. Rogers as outlined above, this motion was seconded by Counil- man Fields. Voted upon and carried. Mr. K. C. Tannery present and offered a deposit of $500.00 by Thursday on the Tre.iler camp, and if the title can be cleared u~ satisfactory in order to get a lone, then he will finish paying up t.o ;;;;4,000. Councilman IJIlhitaker made a motion to accept the $500.00 deposit, and if the title proves not satisfacorily to Mr. Tannery, the the money will be refunded. This motion was seconded by Councilman Smone, voted and carried. Councilman Field made a motion to approve the payment of all bills~ except the Iserman bill on the grill, and the old bill of the Florida Power Corp. (a) From General Fund: (a) J. J. Letter read from the American Machinery Corp. pertaining to the assessment on their property, formerly owned and opera ted by the American Fruit Growers Assn. Now being assessed at $10,400. since it cost them less than $5,000. including the equipment. Rome K Roebuck sent check for taxes and assessment on his property which being excluded, Clerk wes instructed to write Roebuck the situation and is he went his check neturned, tr~t we will do so. Councilmen Whitaker made a motion to hire Cap Howell who works for the Florida Power Corp. to read meters, price not to exceed $1.00 per hour. This motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, Voted and carried. Councilman Slone made a motion to hire L. J. Lee to Haul g3rbage, Police the Town, Pump water, and to do the driving the truck at the rate or $20.00 per week, and only one arresting fee of $8.00 per week, and all over one fee will go to the City. Salary and fees not to exceed $28.00 per week. and to issue his check each Tuesday morning. voted and carr:ted. Councilman Whitaker made a rnotion to reject bid of $112.00 on lot acrossl from Post Office, and to give VJig8ins and Holmes the first priviledge to buy ae-:ain when Council deems it necessary to sell Tl i onaed by Councilman Slone, voted and cs-rried. ' 1 S motion was sec- I I I .185 Councilman Whitaker made a motion to put Liability end Property Damage insurance on the Truck, cost to be $28.05. This motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted and carried.. Coun'cilman Fields made a motion to accept the $20.00 for the two fines from the English end Foster cases, this motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted and carried. One of the Councilman asked the Clerk if he could get e Surety bond for $5,000. and a bond for the Marshal for $1,000. and if so, the City will pay the premiums. There being no further business, Councilman Fields made a motion to edjounn this meeting. TIlls motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted upon end carried.
