HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-21-1946 I I I MINUTES OF THE REGUALR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD MONDAY, OCTIBER 21, 1946. Present: Councilman Fields, Minor, Slone and Whitaker, and Mayor calhoun. Absent; Councilman Farmer. A quorum present. 2~~7 The Meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman Minor at 8:00 P.M. Councilman Fields made a motion to approve the payment of the following bills, with the exceptions of the $31.50 bill from the First National Bank, Ehicago. . (a) From General Funds: w. C. Stevens, cash paid for 612 hrs street labor W. C. Stevens, marshal salary to 10-14-46 W. H. Calhoun, cash paid for 18 hrs garbage hauling W. H. Wurst, Clerk's salary to 10-15-46 H. M. Daniel, cash paid for 18 hrs labor on truck H. M. Daniel, marshal salary ~o 10-21-46 A. D. Gilliam, gas & oil Cash paid out, for 1000 post cards, & water express Florida Telephone Corp. bills to 10-10-46 Bowness Service Station, chg. battery & break fluid W. P. Weeks, 1. gallon white paint Florida Power Corp. lights & power to 10-3-46 R~ J. Mobley, bil~ rendered 10-14-46 Davis Meter Repai~ Co. repairing four meters 36.90 17.50 10.35 50.00 9.60 17.50 15.76 10.72 7.75 1.50 3.42 43.45 2.15 18.00. The motion to pay aforesaid bills from fund above mentioned was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted and carried. The following are the names of those who made potest orally and written as to their assessments for 1946 tax ~oll: Miss. Lillian Maguire, Mrs. E. R. Remey, Mrs. J$ssie B. Alford, Mrs. Roy Goldbold, and G. S. Moore. After much discussion of the assessment, Councilman Fields made a motion to reduce Miss Lillian Maguire's property des- c~ibed, Lot 6, Block 2, Town of ocoee, to $6,000.00. and that all others to stand. This motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, and carried by a vote of the Council. There were four different ones present to see about renting the Trailer Camp Building for living quarters, after the Council considered..their agreement with the Bank at Apopka, the matter of renting the building was dropped. Mr. J. F. Fausett asked for water be cut into his property, Council agreed to have this done at once. Councilman Whitaker made a motion to hire H. M. Daniel as marshal at the rate of $25.00 per week, this motion was seconded by Councilman Fields, voted upon and carried. Much discussion was had on requireing everyone to secure a Building Permit or Removal permit to comply with the Ordinance IIt).mber 20, Council instructed the Marshal to inforce this Ordinance 20, or order the work stopped until a permit. is granted. After the Council reviewed the 1946 assessment rolls ani the total ass- essment of all taxable property, Councilman Whitaker made a motion to a millage of 23 for Homestead and 30 mills for non_homestead property, This motion was seconded by Councilman Fields, Voted and carried. There being no further business, Councilman Fields made a motio~ that the meeting be adjourned, This motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted upon and carried, thereupon, the Council adjourned at ll:~~ P.M.
