HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-17-1947 I I I 267 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD MONDAY, MARCH 17. 1947. Present: Councilmen Brown, Bryan, Fields and Slone. Absent: Councilman Minor and Mayor Calhoun. A quorum present. The meeting was callea to order by Chairman Bryan at 7:30 P. M. and the minutes of last regular meeting held March 3, 1947 were read and approved. Councilman Fields made a motion to approve the payment of the following bills: (a) From General Fund: A. I. Barker, cash for garbage hauling 2-22 & 3-1-47 A. I. Barker, Marshal salary to 3Ql~-47 W. H. Wurst, Clerk's salary to 3-15-47 Florida Telephone Corp. bills to 2-10-47 Cash paid out, l-M post cards, stamps, and ledger Gilliam Grocery, gas and oil for truck Pounds Motor Co. 1 tire and tube for truck A. I. Barker, Marshal fee W. H. Calhoun, Mayor's fee W. H. Wurst, Clerk's fee 9.00 67.50 50.00 10.30 15.00 13.50 33.98 2.00 1.00 1.00 The motion to pay aforesaid bills from funds mentioned above was seconded by Councilman Brown, voted upon and carreed. Cler~ read letter from Florida Telephone Corp. dated March 3, 1947. AlSO:,., 'Mr. Wetstein[. and Mr. Sturdevant of the Telephone Co. wa.s present, asking for a reduction in their assessment and to get exempt from paying Licenses as they do not have an office here, etc. The Council agreed if they improved the system for Ocoee, their assessment would not be raised for the number of years to come, as to the number of ye~s in the past on the in~reased assessment. and the matter of the License for them would be referred to City Atorney. Mr. ~etstein agre- ed to ~ay their Taxes for the years 1945 and 1946. Clerk reported the $86.500.00 of old bonds cancelled by the Bank in Chica.go for the exchange for new bonds, Also the Crummer Company has turned over to the Town the $25,000.00 of new bonds which was paid at 20~ on the dollar. Councilman Brown made a motion to have limb at E. H. Johnson be taken from the tree. This motion was seconded by Councilman Fields, voted and carried. There being no further business, Councilma.n Brown made a motion that the meeting be adjourned, This motion was seconded by Councilman Fields, voted upon and carried, therepon, the Council adjourned at 9:25.
