HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-16-1948 I I I 145 MINUTES mF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OCOEE~ FLORIDA, HELD FRIDAY. JULY 16, 1948. Present: ~ouncilman Asher, Boown, Bryan and Wiggins. Absent: Councilman M~nor and Mayor Owens. A quorum present. The meeting was called to. order by Chairman Bryan at 8:00 P. M. and the minutes of the last regular meeting held July 1, 1948 were read as approved. Councilman Brown made a motion to approve the payment of the following Bills : (a) From General Fund: \ C. G. Sanders, marshal salayy to 7-15-48 67.50 W. H. Wurst, Clerk's salary to 7-15-48 50.00 Cash paid out, garbage and street labor 14.17 Hollands Grocery gas for garbage truck 2.76 Rodgers and Kirkland, retainer fee for June 5.00 R. J. Mobley, paint and brushes, 7-6-48 2.10 M. C. Bryan, installing meters and street labor 12.45 Robert Creel, Gas for fire trucks 8.71 Pounds Motor Company, Extinguisher refills and hose 6.20 Burnett Chemical & Supply Co, 45 pounds H.T.H.- 21.29 Asher and Fairchild, water service to Rushing garage 6.20 Orlando Wrmature Works, bill 7-12-48 - Fire Dept. 8.49 American-LaFrance-Foamite Corp. parts for fire truck-38.10 The motion to,pay aforesaid bills from funds abovementioned was seconded by Councilman Asher, voted and carried. Councilman Asher made a motion to have a letter written to the Florida Railroad Commission in protest in letting the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Station. Agency remain closed the three summer months, not later than October 1st of each and every year. This motion was seconded by Councilman Brown,. voted and carried. Councilman Brown made a motion to buy 1000 feet of 2i .inch fire . hose .for $'25.00 from Hoyle Pounds, this to be paid one-third down and one-third during February 1949 and the ramining one-third during February 1950, This motion was seconded by COuncilman Asher, voted and carried. At this time the Clerk presented the assessement rolls for the fiscal year 1948, The Council reviewed the tax rolls and increased or decreased assessments where it was deemed necessary, and the Council instructed Clerk to send notice to each property owner where the assessment was increased. Councilman Brown made a motion to accept the 1948 tax rolls and to set the meeting of July 29th 1948 to hear any complaints. This motion was seconded by Councilman Asher, voted and carried. The Clerk will post notices for complaints on new assessments. There being no further business, Councilman Brown made a motion that the meeting be adjourned.
