I \ --- \ . 209 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL uF THE CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3. 1949 Present: Councilmen Bryan, Richbourg and' Wiggins, also r.1ayor Owens. Absent: Councilmen Asher and Murray, A quorum present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bryan at 7:30 P. M. and the'minutes of the last regul-a:r meeting held October 20, 1949 were read and approved. Councilman Richbourg made a motion to approve the payment of the following bills: (a) From General Fund: M. C. Bryan, reimburse cahs paid for street grading R. J. Bodiford, 37~ hrs labor on streetR Jim Bailey, ?~ hrs grading streets @ $1.25 I. J. Rogp.rR,'7~ hrs grading streets @ $1.00 Cash paid out, garbage, streets dept. and postage Ferrell Wilson Police sal~ry to 10-26-49 W. H. Wurst, Clerk salary to 11-1-49 Lucille Pounds, Election Inspector Mrs. Grace Pounds, Election Clerk Mittie Howard; Election Inspector Grace Wheeler, Election Inspector Dees and Lee, Gas; Oil and truck repairs The Burgess Press, Printing Ballots and Envelopes Winter Garden Hardware Co. water dept. Victor M. Hill, 1949 taxes on lot- M. C. C. Bryan, fire house labor 105.50 10.60 A motion to pay aforesaid bills from funds abovp. mentioned was seconded by Councilman Wiggins, voted and carried. At this time the Clerk read the results of the regular_iCity election held November 1st 1949 from the tally sheets signed by th~ Clerk ann Inspectors of the' polls, the results are as follows; For Mayor for the term of two years, Bud Owens 133: votes. For Councilmen' for the term of two yp.ars; L. 1. Asher 36 votes; D. E. Fields 83 votes, John T. Minor 108 votes, M. B. Slone 88 votes, and J. J. Wiggins 67 votes. Vfuereupon Bud Owens was elected Mayor, and John T. ~linor and l-1. B. Slore was elected COuncilmen. A total of 198 votes were cast with 4 votes thrown out. Councilman Wiggins made a motion to ac~ept the pole holders count, and that the.election considered legal and valid, this motion wa$ seconded by Councilman Richbourg, voted and carried. Mayor Owens was sworn in by W. H. Wurst, Jr a Notary Public, and in turn Mayor Owens swore in John T. ~~inor and M. B. Slone as Councilmen. Councilmen Minor made a motion to pay the pole holders $7.00 eaoh, this motion vias seconded by, C('luncilman Richbourg, voted and carried. Co&ncilman Minor made a motion that. the Chairman, the various committeemer. Cl"erk and tJIarshal be appointed at next regular meeting, this motion was' seconded by Councilman ~lone, voted and carried. There being no further business, Councilman Minor made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. This motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, voted and carried.
