IvIINUTES OF THE REGULAR I\1EETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE. CITY OF OCOEE, FLORIDA, HELD
THURSDAY, NOVEIvffiER 17. 1949
Present: Councilmen Bryan, Ivlinor, Murray, Richbourg and Slone
Also Mayor Owens.
Absent: None
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Bryan at 7:15 P. M. and
the-minutes of the last regular meeting held November 3, 1949 were
rea~ and approyed.
C6uncilman Murray made a mption to elect Councilman Richbourg as Chairman
of the City ~ouncil, This motion was seconded by Councilman Slone, Voted
and Carried. Councilman Richbourg voted NO.
Mrs. B. F. Sutton present to request a reduction in assessed valuation
of the Gainey Garage property for the year 1949 taxes, as she feels tha't
it should be reduced one-half on account of fire damage, The Council
advised they will check on this and advise.
Councilman Minor made a motion to approve the paYBent of the following
bills.
From General Funds:
M. C. Bryan, water department
W. H. Wurst, Clerk to 11-15-49
Cash paid out, Garbage ~~15.00 office supplies 1.39
Rodgers and Kirkland, Cigaret Tax Ordinance
Florida Power Corp. power & lights to 10-11-49
M. & M. Welding Shop, water & ~treets dept.
Orlando Farm Nquipment Store, Street dept.
Moores Foundry, 6 meter boxes & covers
Finley's Municipal Supply Co. 6 meters & connections
J. W. Clements, 14 days police service

A motion to pay aforesaid bills from funds above mentioned vias
seconded by Councilman Murray, Voted and carried.

Councilman Murray made a motion to figure with the Venetian Blind Company.
for a cheaper price than $53.40 for five blinds for Post Office, this
motion was seconded by Councilman Bryan. voted and carried.
Councilman Hurray made a motion to appoint Councilman ~Iinor as Vice-
Chairman,. motion vIas seconded by Councilman Bryan, voted and carried.
+ Chairman Richbourg appointed the following to act as Committemen and their
assistance. - Minor head of streets~ Sloan assisting; Murray head of
Sanitary, Slone assistant. - Bryan head of water department, Minor
assistant. - Bryan head of property and equipment, Slone assistant.
After much debating and discussion, Councilman Slone made a motion to hire
Lloyd E. Smith as Police, notion \las seconded by Councilman f\lurray, CouncL
men Bryan and Minor voted NO. Chairman Bryan voted AYE to break tie.
There were two other applicants for the police job
Next vlas to.,; appointe the Clerk and Treasurer. The Clerk turned in an oral
application for r~rs. COnrad. Councilman Minor made a motion to re-appoint
w. H. Wurst, this motion was seconded by Councilman Murray, voted and
carried. Councilman Bryan not voting.
~ll merchants present to protest on paying the personal property tax, the
Council decided to get the City Attorney to be present at next meeting
De.cember Isy.
Councilman Murray made a motion to give 30 days notice to T. M. Colburn
to vacate the street, time up on Dec. 18th. Motion seconded by Councilman
Slone, voted and carried. Councilmen Bryan and TUnor voted NO.

There being no further business, Councilman Bryan made a
motion-that the meeting be adjourned. This motion was
seconded by Councilman Minor, voted and carried. Thereupon,
the Council adjourned at 10:25 P. M.
